Mary and Jake were married in early September 2025 at the Ojai Valley Inn, under the great oak, and the
wedding felt exactly like the two people at the center of it. There was an ease about the whole day, nothing
performative, everything real. It's the wedding I point to when a couple tells me they don't want to feel posed.

The weekend started with a rehearsal dinner under a pergola of vines, Ojai in early September, warm and still. Amy from Intertwined Events set up a long table where friends and family gathered and told stories of Mary and Jake. Dinner and drinks flowed as the sun set.

The ceremony gathered under the oak's huge quiet canopy. Pigsty's florals were loose and natural, and
Intertwined Events kept the design simple enough that the tree stayed the point. Mary and Jake had their first look before the ceremony under the Olive Tree grove. Family photos were taken on property where light was favorable. After exchanging vows, the couple enjoyed time with their guests at cocktail hour near the Farmhouse. 

Under the oak

The portraits happened in golden grass at golden hour. I went outside of The Farmhouse and noticed how stunning the light was hitting the tall grass and I knew I had to take the couple there. We helped them settle among the grass and the photographs speak for themselves. What the photographs hold is what was true: two people at home in themselves, surrounded by people who love them, in a valley that did the rest.

Where's the oak?
Located near the golf course, The Oak is the ceremony spot I'd choose here without hesitation. The canopy gives soft light at any hour and a sense of shelter that a lawn alone doesn't.

What's the "pink moment"?
Ojai's sunset, when the Topatopa Mountains turn pink for a few minutes as the sun goes down. Plan the portrait window to end right in it.

Is Ojai good for a whole weekend?
Yes. The Inn has 220 acres and the town is a five-minute drive, so guests spend the weekend without
going anywhere. Mary and Jake did the rehearsal dinner, the wedding and the after-party all on property.
